Deadmates or “death by consumerism” is a special NFT collection of characters hand drawn by Ko U Hyun exclusively for the Supermeta+ community. The collection is a modern iteration of the iconic character he first developed in 2012 and seen in his early oeuvre. The characters are his observations on our relationship with fashion and consumerism; a satirical encyclopedia reflected in their whimsical qualities told through the curious and meticulous gaze of the auteur.
They are part of a collective, yet each character stands alone, carefully composed from 100 unique attributes to create a one and only art piece for your collection and enjoyment.
Ko U Hyun
Ko U Hyun is an emerging contemporary artist based in South Korea. He started using his pseudonym in 2018 after graduating from the distinguished Central Saint Martins in London. U Hyun uses figurative characters to examine the values and nuances of human behavior, what identity means to us and why people are compelled to freely transform theirs.
His influences come from contemporary artists such as Takashi Murakami, Keith Haring, Nam June Paik and Yue Min Jun. U Hyun has exhibited in London, Singapore and Seoul.
